Almost forgot a highlight; the group Bond" and their version of Allegretto being used as music. Bond are an all girl instrumental group and I have 3 of their albums. They are brilliant musicians and "Libertango" is one of their other tracks. Other instrumental groups with great tracks are "Classical Graffiti, Gotan Project and Roderigo and Gabriela. I'd love it if some were used...but...
I also suggested this by The Shaddows that might go down well.

Imagine how well it would go down if Dave Arch did the solo. Oh wow.....

Oooh yes totally agree re Bond tango music. Libertango one of my all time favourite pieces, one of my sons signature tunes, he played it in his major project for his finals this year.
I do love a good bit of traditional music....

I was at a concert at the Guildhall School of Music in the Barbican last week. There in the entrance to the concert hall was a giant picture of Dave Arch. He's obviously an allumnus.TANGOLERO wrote:

Re: SCD 2017 Weekly Highs & Lows
Highs
- Susan's Quickstep - one to get out on a low rainy day to inject some joy back into ones life (feeling all fuzzy and feelgood as I type...) Great choreography from Kevin
- Gemma's Paso - a lesson in how to overcome the odds when music, costume and hair are all against you. Again, great choreogrpahy - well done Aljaz. And a really nice partnership.
- Ruth's Tango face - it might have been fear combined with absolute concentration, but it was brilliannt. A shout out too to the purpleness of both her and A.nton. And their music. Fab-u-luss!
- YASB's dress and hair (I may be again her, but have to give credit to costume and hair/makeup where credit is due)
- Mainly good music.
- Oti's dress (even if I don't remember the dance)
Lows
- Amy and Gemma's Mad Max hair - No! Just no.
- Joe's awkward Cha Cha Cha. So disapppointing. Door was a totally unwanted detraction and distraction for both Joe and the spectator
- Not being able to remember Jonnie and Oti's dance - why is that?
- Karen's face at the end of their dance - clearly NOT happy about Simon's mistakes. Show some support and encouragement woman. It's decided - I am Agin her.
- The judges and Tess's comments about Davood and YASB's smouldering parnership. Inappropriate.
- Our Shirl calling Charlotte Mollie.
- The 10's for the jive. It wasn't perfect - there were some sickled feet, her kicks seemed a bit low and there was the fumbling through Gorka's legs.

Mr T - I just found your post and the fact that you mentioned Roderigo and Gabriela - hey presto - your wish is granted this week
I kind of forgot to put my post up on this thread this week - the moment has passed really - but if I think back to what sticks in my mind it is Susan and Kevin, Gregory Porter, A nton and Ruth, Jonnie and Oti, and some great music. In all honesty there were no great lows this week - a few undermarked and overmarked but that's par for the course - I missed Lance (like B4P - figured the other boy was brought in to sing the 'Darkness' n umber - so high) I disliked Davood and Nadya's dance and the fact that Shirley didn't seem to notice the flaws. Shirley got zero from me again this week - inconsistencies and favouritism and I love Twirlie's 'mutton dressed like lamb' comments - ha ha. I also wasn't impressed by the '10s' or the fact that I won't be seeing B rendan again this year in the show - and the whole C harlotte thing was so sad.
Overall it was a good weekend - hope this week is the same

Week 5 Highs & Lows
Highs
An ton's outrageous upstaging of Ruth wearing THAT shocking pink extravaganza. A piece of Strictly history
Cr aig's impression of Br uno lightening the mood.
I liked most of the music (and the singers & band were on form)
Jonnie & Oti's quickstep
Alexandra & Gorka's samba
Joe & Katya's Paso
I think Aston & Janette were about the only couple to start dancing straight away.
Lows
Weird scoring not matching the judges critiques again
Too many ties on the scoreboards.
Tess yapping too much again
The Clauditorium sounding more like a weekly zoo than a party area.
Still too much faffing about, time wasting, at the start of most of the dance routines.
I thought I saw a couple of girls with both feet off the floor but I'll look again.
The judges don't seem to be gelling together to me
Br uno maybe thinking of following L en over to the American show (my thoughts only - not fact)
Getting fed up of hearing that the dancers are feeling nauseous last week and this.

That fantastic Flamingo audition dance aka A.nton
Joe & Katya on form this week
C.raig imitation of B.runo
Noting of Alex's pigeon toes at last
Better music
Lows
Shirley's remark to Jonnie to put some spring in his step
3 judges it doesn't work re scores
The constant erratic scoring by Shirley
Ruth's hair wigs getting on my wick!

An.ton's antics and costume - he guarantees laughs every wekk regardless of the knocks he and his partner takes. B.rendan take note.
C.raig's impersonation of B.runo. It came from nowhere, was so unforeseen and spot on. Nice to see the other side of him.
No really terrible dance this week. Even the weaker dances had a feel good factor to them.
Lows
Judge's overmarking some (Joe, Debbie and Jonnie) and undermarking others (Susan and Ruth).
Tone it down giving the phone-in details please.
Did miss B.runo personally. Always good for a laugh and needed a fourth score to break up the leaderboard.

Highs
the fabu-u-lus darling one's impersonation of Silver tongued Italian Stallion
Shirley's "Spring in your step"
Mollie and AJ (surprisingly for me)
B.runo's absence
Lows
Still too much faffing about before the dance proper begins. Mollie and AJ included.
Brian and Amy - got to go soon.
Erratic marking. Alex's 7 and Joe's 10 - both off the mark in my opinion.
Otherwise it was an excellent show.

Highs:
"Love is in the air" and Housewives choice's Bogo-Pogo outfit. Brilliant.
Joes Paso and the Roderigo/Gabriela music.
the fabu-u-lus darling one's Silver tongued Italian Stallion impersonation.
Lows:
Debbie's nines. Not waranted for a posed game of statues. No rythmn in sight or sound.
Some poor co-odination from the judges on scores. Makes some of their view not much better than ours.

Re: SCD 17 weekly Highs and Lows
HIGHS
A really good show for me when there was a real air of the joy of dance and everyone making an effort and enjoying it - no matter what their standard.
I liked quite a few dances but the ones that made a lasting impression were Debbie and Gio, A nton and Ruth and Joe and Katya.
Enjoyed the B runo impersonation
An tons genius
The front-runners (ringers) were a bit overshadowed - which shows that there are no foregone conclusions on SCD
LOWS
Inconsistent scoring - much as I loved the dance I did not agree with the '10'
3 judges meant too many ties
Too much faffing at the beginning in most of the routines for me
The order of performance needs shaking up a bit -so far some people always seem to be in the first half of the show and others near the end every week. I have never noticed it more than this year.

Week 6 Highs & Lows
Highs
Having 4 judges back together
Aston's Paso and make-up
Gio's make-up
That chandelier on the opening dance (had more movement than some of the dancers!)
the opening pro dance
Katya's ballgown
Jamie the singer standing in for Lance
Alexandra's Tango
Darcey making a positive contribution Ya.
T ess being less vocal
Lows
Shirley criticising some of the contestants for the choreography rather than the pro.
Karen's disrespectful food fest yet again.
Nadiya's choreography
Spikey judging. Over and under marking depending on whether you're a favourite or not.
note to Gio - must have more practise in lifting (more than just one of Debbaaaay's legs)
Will the judges be even meaner next week before the Blackpool trip?
Will AJ's parent's show up again next week, or will it be the turn of the Clifton's?

Four judges back
Good set design
Opening Pro Dance
Lows
The announcer's tiresome use of words in intros to instill Halloween feeling. Perhaps they knew tge chosen music had not done that.
Judges scoring. Handing out 10s when clearly mistakes could be spotted in the routine.
Shirley continued pandering to Simon yet criticising far better dancers.
My own realisation that the final six are already as good as set in stone. Three ringers (Aston, Alexandra and Debbie) and three best strivers Gemma, Joe and Mollie.
Music choices withhardly any connection to Halloween.

Re: SCD 17 weekly Highs and Lows
HIGHS
Pro opening n umber on Saturday night - the masked ball concept.
Some good make-up - no-one drew the short straw in terms of having to have an awful costume.
The whole thing was not too 'over the top' this year and the dances were recognisable instead of being a complete drama fest.
Joe and Katya's spiders web themed fox trot
Debbie and Gio's Charleston
Good costumes for the judges and for C laudia and T ess
The band and singers did well - including the new boy singing the higher range/rocky stuff
LOWS
Karen and Simon's 'eating'
Hallowe'en theme has run its course
In spite of a great solo by B rendan I didn't really enjoy the pro n umber in the results show - thought it was a bit strange.
Sad that Mollie ended up in the DO
Steps!

Highs
- Debbeh...Debbeh!...DEBBEH!!!
- Steps...didn't realise the clocks went back to 1999
- Shirley schooling Claud cos only she could! And I then spent the rest of the show feeling really self-conscious about slouching
- Some decent tracks albeit used for the wrong night (Frankie) or danced to badly (Kylie and Wicked Game).
- More subtle 'looks' than usual which didn't distract so much from the dancing.
- Glad B.runo back (altho he seems even more excitable and fidgety than usual). I did notice his absence more than I am L.en's.
Lows
- Nothing truly standout (not even a totally bonkers routine like Ed's Mad Professor Cha Cha that was memorable for different reasons)
- Susan and Kevin being a bit defensive, don't want to see that again from them, but still among my fave couples
- Simon and Karen eating during the judge's comments. Her food 'quirks' aren't funny.
- The reactions to going through getting ever more OTT. Chill. You're through to Week 7 not the final.

HIGHS
Alex's cha cha
Debbie's Tango
Joe's Charleston
The Stereophonics on SCD!!! Yay!
R uth and A nton's routine
Shirley making the right decision in the DO
LOWS
CRH making an exhibition of himself - and getting out the '10' paddle too early
Mollie in the DO again - no bounce vote
Even though I agreed with the DO decision - some weaker dancers are left in who probably should have been in the DO tonight.
Some weird music choices
That VW......could have been so different. This was Janette's chance at the final and she blew it.....................
