Taylor Swift??????....

Some in there I like, some I don't and some I just don't know. Los Lobos are at least doing Mexican mariachiso their number has an authentic rhythm, but hardly paso. Could be much worse though and it might work well if Dr Ranj can play the part. We'll see.
Frankie Lymon should be fine for Jive, we did it often enough back in the day.
Africa by Toto is great as a song but I'd have thought Rumba rather than Samba. That's a puzzler.
You can cha-cha to Happy Birthday, so no problems there.
Oddesy and Jeff Beck He is. And we obey him. should both be okay as should Can't hurry Love....
Chandelier for Rumba? Is somebody having a laugh?
The rest, time will tell no doubt.. Wink

'Use it up..... sounds more like a Samba to me.
'Africa' - maybe a slow Samba like Joe did last year to 'Money'?
Love Sammy Davis Jnr but can't hear a V.Waltz to that one. ? more of a Foxtrot
Wasn't ‘Cancion del Mariachi’ also used in 'Pirates of the Carribbean'?

Don't think so B4p, it was the theme tune from Antonio Banderas's film Desperado..."The Black Pearl" from Pirates of the Carribean has been used quite well as a Paso.

I think 'Pirates' did a modified rip off version. One of my favourite scenes

Actually I think that song could work pretty well for a tango it's quite staccato and dramatic - and let's be honest they're going to totally nail it. edit having seen ITT and heard Pasha's chess concept, I think it will be fab
I thought Africa was a bit slow for Samba..must go back and look at Joe's (can't even remember it now, how bad is that)
I think the Cancion del Mariachi is more well known from Pirates than Desperado, that will be a crowd pleaser, but I fear Dr Ranj might ham it up a bit...he doesn't seem very 'butch' to me!
I hope Faye and Gio don't swing from any chandeliers in their rumba Wink  especially after events this week
All in all not too bad ...is someone actually choosing decent music this year?!

I think a slower version of this one could work for an A.Tango. It also reminds me of Greek Syrtaki dancing

I'm liking the 2 waltz tracks.

Looking forward to seeing Oti's Tango routine to Roxanne.

No doubt Kevin will come up with a half decent Samba routine.

Hoping that Danny can let himself go a bit in his jive, and Sean can gain some control of his wayward limbs in his quickstep, otherwise I think Sean'll be in danger.

Nice to see that we've got quite a few ballroom routines coming up this week. Trust K evin to bag a really good track for a samba - Hope he doesn't spoil it with some silly storyline. I really love 'Tequila' it would always be on my list as a choice for a samba - I think Nathalie Lowe had it as a samba track a few years back - can't remember who she was partnered with at the time.

Time for the celebs to step it up a notch methinks.

Suspect Will the Couples Choices put those couples into the mid section?
Joe, Dr Ranj, Sean & Graeme have to really lead their ballrooms.
Danny's got a high energy dance.  Suspect

The rest look relatively safe as long as they get the votes.

Sorry to be a wet week, but totally unimpressed by the whole boring Halloween thing; hate it in fact. Same old, same old. Two dances are of interest, the rest will be as they will be. Lauren and AJ - Paso Doble - the dance not the music.....
Stacey and Kevin - Tango - same. I'll watch of course, but I'm not expecting fireworks....oh, that's next week.....Embarassed In truth, the whole shebang is killing me. I'm just too old and have lived with great music and dance for so long that the year of finally demolishing our beloved Palais is telling me things.....Dance on....I'll go play some strict tempo....pirat

Purely based on the dance and music, I think Lauren will be in the weakest position this week. Not an easy dance or song by the sound of it. She's supposed to be the wicked queen, and AJ the huntsman from Snow White. In contrast Seann, should manage to learn his 3 steps without a meltdown. I liked Kristina playing the queen on one of the result shows, plotting against Alijaz, (prince) and Janette (Snow White).

I always feel really grumpy about the Halloween night because I hate it and how it's become so Americanised over here, as well as being such a tired format on Strictly. That being said there are a few different song choices in there alongside the old cliches.
I have a feeling Pashley will steal the show.

I too find the whole Hallowe'en thing deja vu - but there's an interesting mix of dances in there this time and I'm pleased to see that they are recycling some 'classics'  (if I can say that) on the music front - namely  Monster Mash   (my favourite ever Hallowe'en related track) and the Time Warp  (another secret pleasure of mine! Very Happy )  so I do feel that some of the music is not so 'clutching at straws' as it has been in recent years - but 'Spirit in the Sky' for Hallowe'en? and for an AS? Not sure about that one.

Feel really sorry for Kate - another dance that will not suit her I fear. What a pity she couldn't have had another week of ballroom, her 'combination' definitely doesn't seem so good as some of the others. I also fear for Lauren with that music and a dance that I don't think will suit her either. AJ never seems to do very well on the paso. Agree with B4P that Seann will learn his 3 steps easily and propel Katya round the floor - whether it will have any grace to it remains to be seen!

It will be interesting to see who wins the battle of the jive between Ranj and Charles and I too am interested to see what they do with 'Fever' as a jazz/theatre n umber - I've kind of got that dance from Chicago with the chairs in my mind (sorry can't remember it exactly).

It would be interesting if they re-created those costumes from the Dr and the Medics VT! Very Happy Very Happy  I have always liked this track as a track and I suppose I can hear a Foxtrot going across it but could be quite pedestrian - not sure about turning it into an AS.

I think a few people are tired of Halloween. It seems the same-old-same-old.

Maybe they keep it in for the younger viewers, but I agree the music dosn't usually suit the dance . They won't change the dire music, although this year there's one or two newbies UNLESS - hold the front page, lightbulb moment.....

What if they did the Couples Choice dances just on Halloween next year and have the perfect excuse to kill (mwwwwhaahaaaa) a few birds (not the females!) with one stone? They could exorcise the tired Halloween format, everyone could have one week break from the ballroom and latin, and each couple could be judged more fairly on the couple's choices. Surely by next year, guest choreographers wouldn't be needed for the couple's choices? Possible or not?

To be honest I fear for Kate this week with the Rumba. I dont think she is quite at a level high enough to perform that dance to a high enough level to impress.

Begs the question again, C.C.: based just on this week, how can you judge a rumba over a waltz? In other areas/sports that take in "degree of difficulty", higher marks are awarded for completion. I agree entirely that Kate is at risk, but not just from a pure level playing field situation. I know the giraffe and hobby horse come around on the same roundabout as the fire engine and bus, but the fire might be out and the last bus gone by the time they get there. Wink

TANGOLERO wrote:Sorry to be a wet week, but totally unimpressed by the whole boring Halloween thing; hate it in fact. Same old, same old.

Not a wet week at all Tango. I had a rant on the wrong thread about this very thing. I said:

Hallowe'en must go. The dances never, ever, ever fit the songs and are clumsily shoe-horned in with a complete lack of style and elegance. Strictly is all about glamour and sparkle. There is no glamour in ghouls, ghosts and the undead. It is an evening of unmitigated ugliness, which, for me, is the very opposite of what Strictly stands for. I hate it with intense passion and I shall never stop saying this...

I have no idea what the nation's fascination is with the annual fest of creepy ghoulish things. It used to be callled All Hallow's Eve, which is the day before All Souls Day which was a rememberance of those who had passed on. I know we now (well, for the last 100 years) have Rememberance Sunday on the 11th November and accept that another day of rememberance so close is no longer required, but it still seems somehow tacky and disrespectful to have hijacked the day in order to depict the dead as spooky and ghoulish. Not to mention witches who were just women persecuted for their knowledge of herbs etc as medicine and of childbirth. It is not a celebration which lights up an otherwise gloomy time of year - it is deliberately full of horror and darkness. To use this dark theme for a bright n breezy, sparkly, glitzy glamourous entertainment show is beyond my fathoming. Not to mention that only one or two of the songs ever actually fit the tempo of the dances they perform. But i've just said that up there and now I am going round in circles and repeating myself....
