Strictly 2023 - CONFIRMED Celebrity Line-up

On The One Show this evening we had the first confirmed celebrities for Strictly Come Dancing 2023.

Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington will take to the dance floor.

Former newsreader and now TV presenter Angela Rippon will be the oldest contestant at the age of 79. She will be helped having dance credentials but it should be fun seeing how she gets on.

Another confirmed entry is,as clear a 'ringer' as you could hope to see. Theatre and film actor Layton Williams enters with a plethora of stage musicals involving dancing on his CV.

The fourth celebrity for Strictly Come Dancing 2023 is former newsreader and presenter Krishnan Guru Murthi.

Thanks for the updates CC. Surprised and pleased with the names so far, and especially as I recognise all four! I do think Layton will be a massive ringer, but there's always one or two.

I saw some headlines about some people trying to boycott Amanda Abbington but don't know the details.

I've only heard of two of them so far, but that's nothing new, I'm happy to watch anybody learning to dance.

The sixth confirmed celebrity for Strictly 2023 has been announced. Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon will be taking to the dancefloor.

The seventh confirmed celebrity for Strictly 2023 has been announced. Love Island star Zara McDermott joins up.

The eighth confirmed celebrity to take part in Strictly 2023 is Emmerdale and Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas.

The ninth confirmed celebrity for Strictly 2023 is TV presenter Nikita Kanda who presents on the BBC's Asian Network.

These are unconfirmed but press declaring that weatherman Owain Wyn Evans, footballer Daniel Sturridge and comic Les Dennis have signed up for Strictly 2023.

The tenth confirmed celebrity for Strictly 2023 was to be Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach.

The eleventh confirmed celebrity for Strictly 2023 is Paralympian Jody Cundy.

This announcement was swiftly followed by the twelth confirmed celebrity who is EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier.

The thirteenth and fourteenth confirmed celenrities for Strictly 2023 were announced earlier today. First up was former EastEnders and now Casualty actor Nigel Harman. This was followed by former tennis pro and now pundit and presenter Annabel Croft.

The fifteenth and last celebrity for Strictly 2023 has been confirmed as comedian and presenter Les Dennis.

That completes the celebrity line-up for the new series.

Perhaps a little doubt over Adam Thomas taking part as he has what has been described as a 'chronic illness'.

First opinion is I will be rooting for Angela Rippon, Nigel Harman, Annabel Croft and Les Dennis. Others could grow on me too but Layton Williams dance experience will mean I will not be able to root for him.

I don't know many of them but I've got an open mind at this stage. 
I like someone with a bit of grit and determination, and mostly the desire to learn to dance (preferably Latin & ballroom). 

I don't want to hear about their heavy work schedules running beside their Strictly commitments, their blistered feet, tiredness levels, or family issues. They all know what the program's about by now. They're being well paid and they will have had months to get their fitness levels up before they start proper training. They also have the luxury (and honour) of a professional dancer and teacher on a one-to-one basis for 10-12 hours a day. Let's hope they embrace and enjoy their glitter-filled 3-4 months on the show and make the most of it.

Happy with this list, seems a good range of ages and backgrounds. I recognised 9 out of the 15 - I don't watch soaps or Love Island so I didn't know those names.

No-one jumps out as an immediate favourite for me, so will wait till first show (I'd never heard of Hamza before, but he was my firm favourite after the first show last year!)

There's a couple of clear ringers in the pack, but not too worried about that - generally it seems the voting public can discern the ones who start with an advantage.

I so agree with you B4P, if any of them start whinging about their work schedules I won't have any sympathy! They (or their agents) should know by now that Strictly is a huge time commitment, no point doing it if they're already busy.
