New Studios - Thoughts Here

Of course this year's Strictly Come Dancing has a new home. It was sad to see the demise of BBC Television Centre where Strictly has always been based so it was time to move on.

The new home for Strictly Come Dancing is the famous Elstree Studios in Borehamwood. It will be very interesting to see what the set design will be like and the dimensions compared to those we have come to love at BBC Television Centre.

Early thoughts on the new home from Aliona Vilani: '2nd pro rehearsal is done for today...new SCD studio is cool...bigger and better!'

Leave your thoughts on the new set and studios here. I will miss Saturday's opener (working) but have set my TIVO box to record it.

I haven't seen the new studio yet! Could be a very vibrant new SCD! Be lovely if Dave & his band on a higher platform looking across the dancefloor! Wonder if Graham Norton has sneaked in his chair that tosses back a bad joke in the judges area!!!!

No I haven't seen it either and can't find any early snapshots of it online so I will have to wait until late Saturday night to see it. Apparently, (according to Aliona) it is a bigger set. As you say it would be nice to see the band elevated and perhaps moved to the side.

It will be a big reveal! New celebs! New Studio! New professional dancers, new hosts oops sorry!!!! Will ITT be in the new studio & will it be Zoe or Ian?

I would say quite confidently this is the biggest overhaul of Strictly Come Dancing since it started. A new studio and set(unless they stick with the original and recreate it of course) and about 25% new pro dancers as well.

Well it would seem that the set is a mere reproduction of the old set. An opportunity missed me thinks.

I agree CC an opportunity missed!! An elevated band or elevated Judges (similar to the muppets balcony!!)
Maybe we might have a surprise hidden or two? & why no mention of ITT?

Don't get me wrong though I loved the old set and its functionality so am not sad it is still there. We have enough changes pro-dancers wise in any case.

To be honest if I hadn't known that they'd moved, I don't think that I'd have noticed.

I don't think that the set needed a major overhaul, but they could have made a few tweaks - position of the band being the main one. Still, I guess they thought if it isn't broken.....

Agree Tina. I would like to see more of the band, after all they're such a big part of Strictly

Tell you what I miss, and that's the Tesspit! I just liked the colour and the atmosphere. I find the tower a bit sterile.

The sceptic in me would say that the cameraman wouldn't get the 'jiggle and knicker' shots of the dancers  pounding up the stairs if they returned to the pit, but I agree it had a cosier atmosphere.

Yes the camera shots upstairs do love the legs & heaving bosoms/pert bottoms shots! I am hoping this year we get leg &footwork camera angles! Please no cropping to only mid thigh shots only! Maybe in the corner of screen instead of The Talking Heads!! ( Who listens!?) camera dedicated to footwork & steps only!!!
