SCD 2017 Songs & Rhymes

I was thinking about Brian & Amy's Wizard of Oz Scarecrow dance, thinking how the tune, costumes, and dance, all came together nicely without any tricks or flash. It got me thinking about the music choices again.

If the troll just had a brain.

Somewhere locked in Strictly Towers, there’s a troll who’s had such power,
it has driven them insane.
All the fans they are losing, with the crazy tunes they're choosing,
cos the music sounds so lame.

Sunday, pros are all a-jitter, some get stitched up like a kipper,
when the weekly tunes are claimed.
Some will try not to giggle, others stand in pools of piddle,
as their hope goes down the drain.

Now I, could really fly,
when I quickstep round that floor,
do a samba til the crowd all roar for more,
and hope my score, goes up the board.

I could rumba without bluffing, do a Paso full of stuffing,
drive a tango, full of fire.
But I’m learning to Foxtrot, courtesy of latest rap God,
who has symbols for a name.

For that troll in Strictly Towers, I will surely have my hour,
Halloween will soon be here.
If you hear a commotion, it’ll be a music potion,
so the troll can grow new ears.

I had some thoughts about one for 'Spatman' but I wouldn't have time to sort it out before tonights show. We've got guests this evening, so may not get to watch the show til the morning (or then again, have a sneaky peak tonight when everyones gone!)

I feel a little rusty, but will get my thinking hat on for a poem.

I'm like the Tin Man jingle and need a lot of oiling. It's a fair few years since I did any scribbling, and my pencil's just about grown back into a twig! I don't know why, but the last few days my brains started twitching again, especially when I'm trying to get to sleep at night. Look forward to reading other folk's creative masterpieces

Don’t try to slate me, or start snarling,

Last night, my new stalker came creeping.
Watching. Through my window was peeping,
with her, VT camera a-bleeping.

It was Ed Ball’s partner, with a free dance slot, upon the dance floor.
I said ‘I’m not that bothered, rather eat hotpot, than have my feet sore.
Don’t like the Cuban heels, they just don’t appeal, they hurt my feet more.

She said, ‘I could show you ‘New Yorkers’.
I said, ‘I’d rather have some fried porkers’.
All that, mincing is fine if you’re Gorka

Then my ears were bleeding, she was talking loud, about a high score.
Not about the football, but a ‘Turkish towel’, (whatever that’s for).
She talked of ‘drunken sailors’, but I wasn’t sure, whether to ask more.

At home I practise, wearing my old socks. I’ve got a clean floor.
They don’t know what I’m dancing, but I bluff a lot, and wave my hands more.
I exercise my face, like I’m from outer space, to act the part more.

I prefer pyjamas, but wardrobe does not. They’re Strictly hardcore.
They said the hoody’s out, the lycra vest is hot, because it shows more.
When halloween comes round, I wonder what they’ll find me, from the joke store.

Love love these. They should be in a pamphlet for every SCD viewer to sing along too

Sorry, haven't got the rhyming mojo back yet....but just wanted to let B4P and Tango know that I recently spotted our old BBC rhyming buddy Frank on a different forum. I didn't say hi as I've got a different username there and thought it a bit too public. But delighted to see that he's alive and well, and still has that sharp sense of wit - just thought you'd like to know.

That's great news jingle. Wonder if Hatlady will turn up somewhere too?
