SCD 2019 Judges
So Dame Darcey bows out for 2019. Ant on's on the list of Pro dancers, so does this mean another import to the judges table?

Re:SCD Judges 2019
I felt sorrier than what I thought I would be when I heard the news about D arcey. For years she frustrated the hell of out of me as she didn't seem to have anything constructive to say or much to add to the judging - but somehow over the last season or two, I felt she had grown into the role more and the dynamic with Shirley has been good - a sensible antidote to CRH and B runo. I wonder who will get the coveted seat?????...………………………... Hope it is someone from the world of ballroom and latin.

Agree mauve. She got on well with Shirley, especially last season. I wonder if one of the old female pro dancers would be available?

Not been D arcey's biggest fan in judging in the past, although she's a beautiful woman and a superb dancer. I too have grown to like her currently and am really sorry she's gone. I thought Housewives choice was a cert to replace her.

I too have warmed to Darcey over the last 2 years and I shall miss her... I hope we shall see E.rin or Flavia or Camilla as new judge..Really hope we do not have a repeat of the "Alesha ' ex contestant" experiment again..Kylie like your songs but mmmm not a judge if Auntie BeeB looking for a name... Maybe William or add commas for the nickname of The Voice coach still wouldn't convince me...
Mind you Auntie BeeB dear Travolta now I would view each week

Re: SCD 2019 Judges
Won't that be a conflict of interest if Oti's performing in the same show? More fodder for the press I suppose.
I really thought that one of the other big choreographers might get the job

I'm unsure why the BeeB went with Oti's sister. Oti has had a fantastic year with her shows and lots of guest appeared cessation elsewhere. I had wished for Flavia, Camilla,Erin an ex pro dancer to relate to both the pro and celebrity. ...

Re: SCD 2019 Judges
I thought Jason or Gary the choreographers would be useful. They obviously get to watch a lot of the pro and contestant dancers and know their capabilities, their start points and weekly progress made. I've enjoyed their slot on ITT where they have described the history and main points of the different dances demonstrated by Johannes and Luba

Re: SCD 2019 Judges
Someone on Twitter had said that the judges seating arrangements would be changed so that Br uno would be first, then Motsi and Shirley, then finally Cr aig.
I was disappointed to see that the old seating format persists. It would give the scoring far more tension to have Cr aig on the opposite end of the row so that we have to wait to see if his 10 paddle comes out or not.

I liked Motsi tonight. Thought she fitted in seamlessly. Some good advice as well as obvious enjoyment. Let’s hope it continues.

Agree Moova. The new girl done good.
What has happened to Cr aig tonight. More variety in his paddle use than in any other series. The meds must be kicking in.
Do you think that Shirley's outburst against Emma B's Jive was a dig at An ton?
I thought the scoring was a bit bizarre for week 1. It started off very low key then - boom - shot into the high figures

I know! Last dance and wow! Basically this isn’t good enough. Think it was a dig at A.nton. I am definitely not a fan of his but that seemed harsh. Though of course she might be a ringer as is Karim apparently. He has been on stage in musicals.

I thought the pace of the song was far too fast for Emma B, and she couldn't keep up, yet alone have time to squeeze decent technique in. You have to be pretty fit to Jive on any week, but as a first dance it must have been pretty taxing. Respect to Mike who I think managed better. It seemed Shirley was criticising An ton's teaching of Jive technique.
I must have been watching a different Tango. I didn't particularly enjoy Saffron's Tango. Maybe it was the tune. the music makes such a difference. She seemed to have balance issues, particularly toward the end and it seemed like AJ was dragging her round. I didn't think there was a lot of Tango content to it. I can't understand why it merited a high score, whilst Alex and Mike scored a lot lower.
I thought Karim should have been marked down a bit. I don't remember the Cha-cha having gymnastics and Hip-Hop moves in it. There didn't seem a great deal of Cha-cha in it for me. I'll rewatch it all to see if I've missed something.

I thought Motsi was very good. She offered plenty of handy advice which is always welcome and offered much encouragement and seems a bubbly personality. Well done for week one.
C.raig clearly does not like Mike so he'll be handicapped by his down scoring no doubt. B.runo seemed a little more sedate by his standards.

Your comments on C raig!!
Shirley's comments - and I'm glad others noticed it out there. For me although it was a bit laboured it was a thoroughly decent first week Jive which was enjoyable and even though its not one of his specialist dances I couldn't see any need for a dig at A nton? All three of the other judges gave positive comments - Shirley was way out of kilter for me with this one and also did you notice she started off making a dismissive comment about Emma's performing background which was uncalled for - I know it might have just been the way she expressed it but it all put me in mind of the B rendan thing a few years ago. I hope this isn't going to be the shape of things to come in her judging of this couple as it will be a yawn for me if it does! A nton and Katie suffered a bit from this with the judges a few years ago and it just disadvantages the contestant. Reminds me of how Shirley isn't always that consistent and can sometimes appear to favour the male constestants - a bit like Arlene used to be. Her scoring was also a bit weird in a few cases last night.
I enjoyed B runo last night - not so over the top and gave some insightful comments I thought.
I loved Motsi - you can clearly see she is an experienced judge and slotted in well. At the risk of being a bit contentious (and I know I have to watch a few more shows yet) I do feel things could become a bit similar between her and Shirley - D arcey was so completely different. I think Motsi is going to work but I'm just not sure about the dynamic with Shirley at this point?...….

Hi Sax
Great to see you back on the forum
I know exactly what you mean about Shirley turning into Arlene - particularly in respect of the way she treats the male celebs (they can do no wrong)

Hiya Mauve! I'd forgotten about Arlene and some of her male favourite celeb fawning. I just saw Shirley and heard her yet heard & saw Arlene. I had to stop and re focus and remind myself it was Shirley.

I don't know what they'd put in the judges pop tonight but boy was the happy vibes flowing! Not a cross word, and did I see a 9 from Cr aig! What's going on?

They were a little TOO happy... Something in their pop indeed! The scoring was INSANE. I really don't like it when we get so many high scores in the early weeks. There's nowhere left to go.

They were all on some happy juice. I did feel there were a lot of you were amazing etc and not much they could work on. Loved the colour of Shirley’s dress but hated the cape. And please Silver tongued Italian Stallion a man of your age should cover up!

Re: SCD 2019 Judges
The judges were nauseating the way they drooled over Kelvin all as one. As I said on my dance reviews they were akin to whores pawing at strippers at a strip club the way they carried on. Shirley was most embarrassing - it got to a stage where I was expecting her to drop her knickers. Show some decorum eh and actually offer some critique as there was much to be had with his dance.
Re: SCD 2019 Judges
It's getting a bit stomach churning to watch the fawning. For me it felt very uncomfortable viewing of tongues hanging out and acting as if it's a peep show for a Tinder date after scores!
Not seen Kelvin before but according to the Oracle aka my Mom! He felt embarrassed being asked take shirt off all time in the soap he starred in. Said he was a family man etc and uncomfortable.
I like him and his gentle soul and demeanour. Yes enjoyed his dancing and do feel he will be in final but not win please don't shoot me Got a feeling this year be a close call re winner not sure who yet thou

Re: SCD 2019 Judges
I think that the winner will be a very close call this year and I like it that there is more competition this year. We have early leaders before who haven't made it all the way or haven't actually been the winner even though they get to the final. I think it is still too early and there are some dark horses in the middle of the leaderboard who could break through (or not, as the case may be)
