Another celebrity announced. CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual joins Strictly 2019. He has spent a number of years as a CBBC presenter and as a youngster appeared on stage in shows such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Lion King. I wonder how much dancing was required in his roles?

So Karim is another actor from the Sylvia Young stable. Known for street dance but not done any ballroom or latin that is obvious to find so far.

At the end of the day (for me) it does not matter to me how famous or not the celebrities are. For me the favourite element is seeing them learn to dance. The more wooden and unschooled they are the better too.

I couldn't find her height, but she is quoted in several red tops as being very tall. As she's a model, and looking at her photos, I took a guess at 5' 10-11. One for Johannes maybe?

Crikey,  I only recognise one name (Mike Bushell) so I'm feeling rather underwhelmed at the moment. However I guess I didn't initially know a lot of my favourites in previous years, like Kara, Jay or Molly, so I just hope there's some fun characters this year, and not too many ringers.  Whatever happened to Chris Evans, I thought he'd announced himself last year

Anyhow, it's good to be back on the forum, and to have something to look forward to when the nights draw in. My youngest has just flown the nest so I'm feeling rather fragile at the moment, and in need of a good dose of Strictly escapism.

noticed on one twitter account that 7 out of the 10 contestants have stage school or performing backgrounds. I wouldn't know, but we've seen in the past that stage school doesn't always equate to having dance rhythm (although maybe they'd be able to blag it better with their performing talents). Looks like a varied bunch which is always good.

Hello, hello , hello!!!

Joining in early this year as I am living in the land of Internet. I would miss my comfy rock by the big cave, except that I've just moved to a place straight out of a Katie Fforde novel (except in the Lake District, not the Cotswolds, and with no fanciable neigbours. One can't have everything...) And I have wifi and mobile signal, so it's almost like being in London (I expect).

I have joined Twitter, entirely so I can follow Sid and Sax. I have been twittering a bit about Strictly with Sid and a handful of other afficionados (all followers of Sid which I have appropriated) but the main topic seems to be that absolutely no-one knows who anyone is. I NEVER know more than 3 people, so I am unfazed. I'm all about the dancing (and the frocks, obviously), not the cele.brity. You could put my (unfaniciable) neighbour, or the very lovely postlady on there and I would watch, as long as they threw themselves into the dancing and wore nice outfits. And to know someone isn't necessarily to love them - looking at you Jeremy Vine, Widdishins, Ed Balls and a host of others.

I think I will enjoy the CBBC bloke, Jamie thing who was on some reality show in days of yore, but who I have seen on panel shows, and... well, we'll have to see. This year's YouTuber appears to be a bit of a madam and will divide the generations - anyone over 25 hating her and anyone under 16 loving her. The real fly in the ointment is that she is my height, which means she will get Gorka, which is a real waste and will put me in real conflict. About time he had another good partner.

Note that Chris Evans pulled out in early July. I must say I saw that coming and thought the whole thing was a ruse. It was WAY too early to announce it when he/they did. No sign of Alan Carr either. I think having a new producer may be giving s.lebs and their agents cold feet - they don't know how successful the new season will be under helm. It's obviously a bit of a chicken and egg situation, but I feel some of the bigger names may have bailed as they want to be part of a guaranteed success. This leaves the door open to all the very minor celebrities/non-celebrities-but-married-to-a-posho/little madams who are in dire need of positive PR. But we do have an Eastenders and a Corrie representative, so... yay. All is not lost.

It is SO nice to be able to have my say in many, many, many words and not the 240 characters Twitter limits one to! But, if that's the way to stalk...erm, I mean FOLLOW, Sid, then so be it.

Looking forward to chatting with you all again about all things Strictly for another season :-)

Chris Evans didn't ever commit and announced in early July he wouldn't be doing it.

Very sorry to hear that you're feeling fragile - though it is very understandable. Hope your fledgling finds their wings and soars, and hope you can gain comfort and pride from that in the foreseeable, even if it is all a bit too sore now. And here is a very good place to find warmth and friendliness (even if we don't always agree!) over a good dose of Strictly escapism! Look after yourself xx

Oh NO-O-O-O!!!!!!

I've just seen that AJ and Gorka are the same height and that Little Miss Madam and Ms Visage are simiarly petite and so AJ will get Little Miss Madam which means Gorka basically gets a Doily O alike... Quelle horreur!!!

Hiya well so far I'm happy re Mike being in this year's SCD. mMcVitie heir also happy to see. We have an awful lot of pretty young things to be dressed, glitz Ed and wow us with super dresses. Oh forgot horror on a budget show last few years we may just get Pauper Cinders from the Kitchen..

I hope neither Gorka or A J get saddled with Visage Cruella. I hope we get a big rumoured name Anne or Harry not Sam!
