Well lots of rumours are flying around regarding the first dances.
Confirmed is Vick & Graziano are doing a Jive.
Apparently Lauren is in Australia and will have had 3 days training before the first show. Rumour is she's doing a Salsa as she already has experience of that.
Lee is thought to be doing a ballroom.
Graeme another possible Salsa

Re: SCD 2018 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
It must be me when Tom Jones and Carmen Miranda are the only things that appeal (well, okay, Booker T and the M.G's). Tico Tico would b better with the Edmundo Ross version for me, but as for the rest I think I'd better slink quietly into a corner somewhere wishing it was 1950...

Re: SCD 2018 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
An ton is set to steal the show again with his Samba antics. Will he be dressed as Carmen Miranda, or be wearing something equally outragous?
Looks like some of the pro dancers are being tactical, getting some of the harder dances out of the way on a non scoring week, e.g. Joe's Jive, Sean's Tango and the 2 Sambas.

Re: SCD 2018 which music and dance choices this week?
Charleston for Joe this week - a dance that will probably suit him as it needs a similar level of energy and fast moves to the Jive and less technique needed - just throw in a couple of recognisable Charleston steps and then it's freestyle leaps and lifts all the way...………. Interesting that he isn't doing a ballroom n umber like most of the others who did Jive or latin last week?? I know we always say this every year but I feel everyone should do one ballroom and one latin in the first two weeks - end of - but when was there ever a level playing field in SCD???? bet they hold off on the ballroom until absolutely necessary and we're a few weeks in. The production team are already playing silly wotsits with this one - boy do they want this boy to progress through the contest - nothing against it as I like Joe and wish him well but the phrase 'here we go again' comes to mind - and I'm sure we'll see that with others too!

Re: SCD 2018 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
On the whole it seems a varied music list.
I like:
All of the ballroom classic choices, can't go wrong with Sinatra, Otis Reading, Stevie Wonder and Seal.
I love:
Boogie Wonderland. I can hear a definite Cha-Cha beat in that one.
Cotton Eye Joe. Fast & bonkers.
Not sure of the other Charleston track. It's got a mild 1920's feel but doesn't seem particularly upbeat or zany.
'Beggin' - but why not the smoother Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons version? The Cat is of that generation. Why ruin a good song by sticking inane rap in the middle of it? Sacrilege.
'I'm Still Standing' and we get to see Br uno again as a dancer in the video. I think the track suits a jive, as does the classic 'Blue Suede Shoes'.
Somebody in production obviously likes Pitbull. We seem to get his leering face all too often over the past few years.
Not sure about the Paso track. No doubt Alijaz will come up with something for the Tango track, but I'm not convinced as yet.
Susannah will be in the safe An ton ballroom hold.
Gorka will no doubt give his Oscar Paso performance (he seems to rival Kevin as Paso Prince, although I think Alijaz beats both of them). I'm not sure how safe Katie will be out of hold in the Paso. Extreme Paso postures may be difficult due to her scarring and she's blind in one eye which will also affect her general balance. Maybe Gorka is planning major distraction tactics.
I'm guessing Oti will put in some lifts for their American Smooth to show off Graeme's height and strength.

Re: SCD 2018 which music and dance choices this week?
I agree that there are some good ballroom selections this week. I love Sir Duke - haven't heard it for years - and on the latin side boogie wonderland what more to say? I do hope however that Pasha remembers Shirley's comments last weekend and that he ensures that it is a cha cha! Having seen him on ITT tonight I think he will - although he needs to rein Ashley in a bit and make sure she doesn't do any of the ridiculous 'booty poppin' that we saw on ITT.
I too feel for Katie with landing a paso on the second week (and the only music track that I'm really not keen on) but I think anything would be a challenge for her because of her nerves and I can 't work out whether she is putting a brave face on for something that is proving not to be her thing. On the other hand, she could blossom and it is refreshing to meet a straightforward contestant who is honest about the nerves and what a big challenge it all is.
Lastly - I detect a second possible 'manipulation' on the choice of dance front. Why is Dr Ranj doing a salsa?????? Nothing personal but we know he can do latin well so why is he doing it again this week - he just has to adjust the moves slightly to transition from the cha cha to the salsa, whilst others are challenged with learning a totally different sort of dance from last week. I know she wouldn't necessarily have had the choice but I always feel that Janette sets out all her wares early in the contest and then runs into trouble later.
Still can't make out how it works for the choice of dances on the first two weeks??? But for Dr Ranj it definitely seems to be a shoe in to make it past the first rounds if the production team have anything to do with it.

Something that annoys me greatly as well is when the ringers seem to get best musical choices. How about, since they are ringers, let them dance a waltz to D.I.S.C.O.

Hi everybody
I’m not able to put the songs up this week as I’m away. Is anyone else able to do it? There’s no TV and not a lot of internet coverage so I’ll be posting blind. I’ll pop in and out but mostly to read posts.

Re: SCD 2018 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
Just wondering what Spiderman Theme for Graeme and Oti as the movie theme for it is not conducive at all to Charleston and the 1970s Spiderman cartoon theme is only marginally better.
Film Theme:-

Cartoon Theme:-

I take it the musical selector is back from his week off as this week the choices are underwhelming I'm afraid.

Salsa to ‘Take a Chance...’? Can’t see figure of 8 hips to that one.
Didn’t we have City of Stars’ last year?
I like the ‘Roger Rabbit’ choice. Bit disappointed with a lot of the others.
‘Officer & a Gentleman’ swopping Charles white doctors coat for another white uniform.
Maybe rather than ‘musicals they could just make a film or theatre category next year. There’s only so many musicals to choose from after all.
