Two more names confirmed on the BBC website - Faye Tozer of Steps, and Danny John-Jules from Red Dwarf (which I never watched, but I recognise him as Dwayne from Death in Paradise)

Danny John-Jules plays 'The Cat' in Red Dwarf - Mr Mauve has always been a closet Red Dwarf follower and thinks it hilarious that The Cat will be on SCD!!

And we have Ringer No 1 for the series. Step forward West End musical star and Steps star Faye Tozer.

Danny John-Jules should be an interesting watch.

I enjoyed the interview with Katie Piper on Breakfast this morning. Seemed really grounded and nice and doesn't have any 'previous' it seems.

Indeed. And never knew about the traumatic experiences she has had in her life before coming out the other end. Hopefully, she rises to the occasion.

Author and vlogger Joe Sugg confirmed as a 2018 Strictly contestant. If I am being honest I have never heard of him.

I've never heard of him either CC, and can't say I'm interested in the world of teen vlogging. But maybe he'll be a gem, you never know.

I can't wait to see Dwayne 'shake his tail feathers'. I love him in 'Death in Paradise'. I'm so thick I didn't recognise him as 'Cat' from 'Red Dwarf'.

Quite a diverse group so far - I'd never heard of Joe Sugg but I believe he is a you tuber star - so they are def going for the yoof vote there. As you say Jingle - he might be good - these days with SCD I often end up liking the ones I have never heard of at the beginning. He does look young - wonder who they will give him as a partner given his height?

Likewise but again seems like one who will be learning from scratch.

Stacey Dooley, a TV presenter of several documentaries has been confirmed as the next celebs in this year's Strictly. Another who I haven't heard of but thankfully another without previous dance experience.

Stacey Dooley tends to do a lot of late night documentaries into controversial and sometimes sex/tabloid related issues.  She pops up quite often if you watch the iplayer. In recent times she has done more serious stuff she's not afraid of a confrontation.   In terms of age and height etc she is similar to Katie Piper and actually really reminds me in some respects of Louise Redknapp - don't know anything about her background or whether she has any training/experience in the past.

Quite a range of contestants so far although mainly on the young side  (not the cat obviously!).   No soap stars, BBC salaried staff or big names announced yet...……………………

Good synopsis Mauve! Yes I have seen her stuff on iplayer and I think she is much more intelligent than she sounds ....hmmm now who else do I say that about ah yes the lovely Claude

Graeme Swann (also confirmed) will be an interesting one. He is a real competitor so he won't be looking to make a fool of himself. It will be interesting to see how he takes to dancing.
