Ooh - good luck to her

Pat Shed wrote:Thank you all so much. I'm afraid I took it all rather badly. I have refused to look at the internet or listen to the radio or watch TV news since about 4.45pm yesterday in case they mentioned "it".
However, that picture of Vicky P cheered me up, as did the innocent smiles of my 10 week old daughter when I got home last night. She knows very little of cricket yet (although I did explain to her the detailed intricacies of the Championship race in the small hours of Thursday morning as I was winding her after a feed, including a breakdown of the points situation at the top of the table), and so has taken it all better than I.
Nor do I take any solace from the fact that in the end it panned out as I predicted.
Still, onwards and upwards: there's a Lord's final to be won on Saturday: presuming Marcus hasn't fallen to pieces completely.
Perspective is a wonderful thing.......
Incidentally you'll find another little bit of 'compenstation' / something to take your mind off it over on the 'goodnight' thread - in 'Anything Else' - enjoy........

Well it's a long journey from Durham to London - and as he's not going home inbetween that's six days away from home. Hope his head can take it.

I'm really hoping that Somerset have done the right thing and put his family up in the team hotel last night and tonight.

I'd assume that they'd give him anything he needed even if the other players aren't getting it.

If anyone wants me I'll be curled up in the corner rocking forwards and backwards and moaning "Not runners-up yet again?" while wiping the tears away with my Marcus Trescothick Benefit Year tie.

Well at least this time it wasn't close. I'm guessing that's not a comfort. As and England fan you mist delight in the form of Ian Bell ? No ?
Somerset are clearly the team of the season. Runners up in the CC and two finals. You'll look back on this season with fondness. Eventually.

With a new season to come next year i am sure Somerset will bounce back and soon your time will come! Too cruel sport can be after the glorious 2003 when i was in real need of their support and faith they gave it me!Then next time we went, entered and flopped out like a damp squid in 2007! sobs sniffs....Will 2011 fair any better?

Re: Commiserations to the Rev Shed thread
Assuming you're talking about the RWC and England, I thought 2007 was fantastic for being much more unexpected than 2003. Who backed England to get to the final in 2007? No-one. And yet we did, and were only a little toe (or a video-replay ref's eyesight, depending on your degree of cynicism) away from winning the whole darn thing. The victory over Australia had me so surprised I couldn't even summon up the will to taunt Aussies, and just sat there stunned mouthing "Did we really just win?".
Of course, if you're talking about a different event or supporting a different team, do ignore me.

Me. at 100-1 after they lost to South Africa. Oh yes. I dined well that night.

For some reason, that makes me very happy. It could be that I'm a kindly soul who revels in other's fortune, or it could be that I'm all out of jealousy following the events of Thursday and Saturday.

I couldn't resist it . I looked at the draw and though that I could still see us getting to a semi final and after that experience would tell. And we were so close apart from the video ref having broken his glasses that morning.

Yes i can confirm i posted re England's Rugby Win 2003 and oh so close 2007! Yes i agree bad decision by referee! Isn't it always thou! I had staples in back after major surgery watching England win in 2003 even with the pain and could only lie on one side i cheered and enjoyed the game! Loved when we also won the Ashes too!
Not sure about 2011 Team yet so i shall reserve my judgement until Six Nations start!
Anyone else a big Rugby fan?

I've heard the Mila likes nothing more than to take on the scrum.
Rumours that about the Rev Shed and an international hooker are sadly untrue though.

PPG told me that she thought Admin was a "complete flanker". At least, I think that's what she said.

I had one that I'd picked from this site: it was of a rock climber. I see now from the Avatar tab that such pictures are no longer available. Heigh-ho.

I'd have to inspect it to be sure.
