Hi B4P. I'll just leave blank anything I don't know or am uncertain about. :

Molly and Carlos: Waltz to One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story
https://youtu.be/eQRsf1PRt0c......................... Sounds decent and very safe.

Helen and Gorka: Viennese Waltz to Hopelessly Devoted To You from Grease
https://youtu.be/r-3NvDp28U4........................................ As above..

Will and Nancy: American Smooth to Cry To Me from Dirty Dancing
https://youtu.be/3930TLW_XW0...............Anything from Dirty Dancing does it for me.......

Jayde and Karen: Cha Cha Cha to What A Feeling from Flashdance
https://youtu.be/miax0Jpe5mA.........Done to death but will be popular................

Hamza and Jowita: Rumba to the Theme from Jurrassic Park
https://youtu.be/D8zlUUrFK-M....................Rumba is dodgy to anything

Richie and Giovanni: Samba to Hakuna Matata from The Lion King
https://youtu.be/kaOIxll4LCA.................Depends on the choreography...... ....

Tony and Katya: Samba to You Sexy Thing from The Full Monty
https://youtu.be/4DwEni2N_-A.......Seem's they're determined to laugh Tony out. Give the guy a chance...Matt gets a Viennese. I reckon the dance off is set already.

Tyler and Dianne: Charleston to Flash, Bang, Wollop! from Half a Sixpence
https://youtu.be/KCP0-XfbyRU.........They'll be safe whatever. ............

2022 Weekly Music & Dance Choices Empty Re: 2022 Weekly Music & Dance Choices

Post  B4p Wed Oct 05, 2022 2:15 pm

I love Ellie's music, and hopefully it will be a showstopper.

I like all the ballroom choices.

Out of the Cha-Cha's, I prefer James & Amy's tune.

I don't hear a Rumba rhythm in Hamza's song, unless it's a fast one. I guess the band can jiggle the speed.
I always feel sorry for any contestant having the rumba on strictly as it's a hard dance anyway, but especially if you can't hear or feel a particular rhythm. Could be a tactical dance choice from Jowita, to get the Rumba out of the way whilst there are still potentially weaker dancers around.

Hakuna Matata sounds a bit fast to get all those Samba rhythms in, but Gio creates some great routines and the band is used to adapting music.

Tony's Samba music is nice and slow, so hopefully he can fit some of the classic steps in. Wardrobe please be kinda to him this week. No ostrich feathers or balloons in strategic places. At least he won't be dancing as a dressed lobster this year.

The Charleston's should be fun to those classic tunes.

I think the Charlestons sound the best in terms of matching music to the dance - those couples have lucked out.

Really can't see a rumba in the theme to Jurassic Park and whilst I think that 'Hopelessly Devoted to You' is a great track that will suit Helen and Gorka, I can't quite see a VW in it, more a traditional waltz but I'm sure they will make it lovely whatever.

B4P - I wanted to say that I agreed with your post last week about needed a refresh on the Theme Nights. It is becoming so samey. They could easily combine film and musicals and come up with a completely new Theme Night - there are loads of possibilities some of which we've seen fleetingly in the past.

It's frustrating that the show is ignoring so many chances to freshen things up if they'd just change one weeks theme.

I'm feeling mildly positive about this, but a basic PR failure not to be clear on when this is and what it replaces.

So do we keep Movie Week / Blackpool / Musicals Week and add TV theme week? Or what..

I'm not sure about Hamza's tune. It doesn't sound like your typical Salsa music to me. I really hope the powers that be aren't trying to stitch him up at the expense of others that are overmarked and under-criticized.

I'm not sure why someone in the music cupboard decided that Paul McCartney's version of 'All shook Up' was better than Elvis?

I guess Ciara's 'Paint it Black' is slower, and maybe more atmospheric than the Rolling Stones version, as it was used as a film theme about witches.

I like most of the other choices.

The Ed Sheeran number is just beautiful.

The Joe Cocker song has always been a favourite of mine.

I have that Rodrigo y Gabriela album and still play it.

I really don't know what Tyler's dancing to. I'm guessing it will be one of his own megamix Garage whatever.  scratch Already switched off. I'm not into Garage I'm afraid.

I hope Matt can keep up the energy for his Jive.

Time to see James shine and move up a level. He really can't afford to take a back seat on this dance.

It will be interesting to see Jayde lead the A.Smooth. Ballroom hold, and sorting out her heels and toes?  affraid

On the whole I think a good mix of music and most of it seems suitable for most of the dances

I bet Dave Arch is delirious with joy at this lot. We only needed The Archers and Mrs Dale's Diary for a full house. They actually had two great old time themes in "The Devil's Gallop" D ick Barton and "Coronation Scot" from Paul Temple, but the whole bunch seems less than celebrating anything. Prokiev's Montagues and Capulets (Apprentice theme) is hardly my idea of a Paso Doble, being a bit "jolly" and Abba's Waterloo is about the only dance related number amongst them. Even Dr Who might work as a Tango. Ah well, ours not to reason why.... Sad

Also they missed a trick as they could have gone with a Viennese Waltz to 'The Onedin Line'.

Well, I don't know about all the tv themes, but every song I hear on the radio now I'm seeing a ballroom or latin dance being peformed before eyes. EVERY. SINGLE. SONG.

I think I may be a subconcious choreographer, or was one in another life. I'm pretty good, if I may say so. *flicks hair over shoulder and looks modest in an immensely smug way

(I'm getting very carried away with the bonkersness of this entire thing, and as bonkers is my default setting, I am not only embracing it but on a complete roll of of trying to outdo it all...)

I see we are well represented by crime drama but there is not one single cookery programme included. Nigella, Mary Berry and Nadiya Hussein must be spitting feathers. A lascivious rumba for Nigella, a surprisingly perky Foxtrot for Mary and a cheeky Charleston for Nadiya (I've no idea what their theme tunes are - just go with me.)

I can't believe that no-one is dancing to the terribly dramatic BBC News theme. I would eshew the obvious route of choreographing a dramatic dance with attitude like tango but instead insist that a couple has it for their couple's choice with a nice bit of Strictly-style Street dancing (ie, nothing like the real thing).

And how could they leave out the One Show, when part of any presenter's contract is that they may be required to take part to make up n umbers in any given year? I'm thinking an incredibly awkward Samba (which, let's face it, most of them are).

Bonanza is just crying out to be a new Couple's Choice dance of... the Polka (why have we never seen a polka before? If I was on, I would insist upon it).

And I genuinely and sincerely cannot understand why Top of the Pops hasn't been chosen.  A few tunes to choose from - Whole Lotta Love (a mad-as-a-box-of-frogs Foxtrot); Yellow Pearl (a tango, obviously - Phil Lynott even intones the word "attack", so the judges don't have to); The Wizard (a cha cha cha for no other reason than I wanted one at this point) and whatever the last one was (you can have whatever dance you want - I have only deep indifference for this tune).

Finally, whilst they have nature programmes covered, it's so obvious they should have chosen the Sigur Ros theme to Planet Earth for a genuinely moving couple's choice contempo-waft (dead relatives optional).

Pah!  These producers have NO imagination!

Having been brought up on Strict Tempo and the Great American Songbooks I find a lot of music for dance has had its day for me..Streert dance is nothing more than a please yourself Charlston and the producers insistence of mixing chalk and cheese in competition just make me shake my head and wander off whistling "Stranger in Paradise" Sad .
