Ore's Singing in the Rain peformance was West End musical quality. Totally unable to seperate that from pro quality. Glad the thread's back so I could grab another look at Ian's Regency Waltz. Smile

A throw back to classic dances must have Austin Healey and Erin's Paso Doble......

I'd dipped in and out of the Strictly before but this is the dance that made me properly fall in love with the show (and you know who!). It was so unexpected and joyful. And the track "S.miley Faces" couldn't have been more fitting Smile
I remember that series. It was great. Louisa had only had 2 days to train on that jive cos Vin cent had pulled a hamstring. Pretty impressive.

No-o-o-o CC. Just NO!!!

OK, I'm the only one who doesn't get this. So I'll shut up. I've made my point..... (um, several times now.... Embarassed )

I think a lot of the charlestons on Strictly leave me underwhelmed. The only two that I've really loved are Georgia and Giovanni's and Oti and Danny's (he was a ringer I wanted to be Agin but... the man can DANCE....). Sophie's was almost there but less technically accomplished. I feel all the others were too themed and lost the twenties flapper vibe. If I had to choose one it would GGs - I could watch that over and over and dance round the kitchen forever to it...

I am going to add Stacey's Jive from Movie Week in there. Sure it was cheesy but they were minions. She nailed it to a tee with great timing, the kicks were spot on and had great energy.

I'd forgotten about this thread. Embarassed

I still like Joe and Katya's 'Money' slow Samba from last year. A bit different from the usual Rio Carnival type.

I love this too B4p - I think I referenced it on the Honesty thread in relation to Saturday's Paso and Katya's great chorepgraphic ability (though Gangnam style still makes me wnat to pull the covers over my head in fear and embarassment...)

And her dress was astoundingly fabulous - those black feathery tasselly dangly thingies - oh my! Another winner for Katya and her ability to brief the Vickster :-)

And here is one of my favourite AT's which is so often overlooked. It is up there just below Rachel and Sid's. I mean Vinthent's... And at least on a par with A.rtem and Kara and maybe above it.

And I love his velvet jacket.

I alos loved Simon's Jive - another overlooked performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7PxnTl37Yg .

In fact I think Simon is Strictly's most overlooked contestant. He was a very strong finalist - it was the year that Flackers won, I believe, and I really never rated her and her shapless glittery bin bags at all. Simon had such style and elegance and though intitially lacking in confidence seemed to perk up later in the series. I think Kristina worked very hard with him to fight his demons ad release his considerable potential.

I'll give Denise Van Outen and James J a shout for a pretty nifty full on jive.

Agree. Kristina was a good choreographer. It drove me bonkers to hear Eamonn Holmes and his wife on a Friday night ITT saying Simon ought to pull himself together when Simon's depression was mentioned. I never rated Flackers either. I couldn't understand the plethora of 10s she got. Yes some dances were ok (didn't mind the Eygptian Charleston?) but others were instantly forgettable to me.

I don't know how to patch the pictures up, but here is a youtube clip of Artem & Natalie Gumede doing a Rhumba. Doesn't she have a bit of a 'Vick' look about her?
