Cha-cha-cha to Happy Feat?! ppppppfffttt! I would have thought a Quickstep or Charleston is more appropriate.

Re: Which Dance This Week?
Looks like the Peter preference marches on. If he really has the Paso, then the music from the Black Pearl "Pirates of the Carribean" theme is one of those that has been shown to work by the American pros (forgotten who but there's a brilliant youtube video of it somewhere around). Not sure Anthony is ready for it,"Eye of the Tiger" or no, but who knows?
Daniel at Rydell High? Hmm, that's really pushing things. His grandson might be there, but come on... Luckily, he still has hair to put grease on...I think..... Better hope loads of his fans are Hopelessly devoted to him....

The Grease is probably for his joints (must have run out of WD40! As long as they don't have him doing a blue moon....I read somewhere that Kristina has been worried about Daniel's Irish fans not being able to vote. Only the North are allowed to vote I think. There's one or two Irish fans on this board so maybe they can clarify?TANGOLERO wrote:Daniel at Rydell High? Hmm, that's really pushing things. His grandson might be there, but come on... It's like a weekend break for them to travel from down south to north, and then watch the show, have pints of Guinness, and then vote vote vote. Did you see the youtube viewing figures of all of Daniel's routines? They are exceptionally high.

Re: Which Dances this week
Some great toons this week!!! Can't wait. There's some real classics in there ( Top Hat, Lady and the Tramp, South Pacific and Some Like it Hot) plus some gems - Pulp Fiction and the Cantina Band from Star Wars - what a stroke of genius!! I don't think anyone really has a blooper this week. Of all of them the worst is 'Eye of the Tiger' - partly because it has been done on SCD soooo many times - and I'm not sure about 'Unchained Melody' for an American Smooth - I love the song but it is very slow - slow Foxtrot AS? It will probably be very impressive in terms of lifts and performance but will we see a ballroom dance in there? It is early days but I think Gleb aspires to be a bit of an A rtem - he needs to be careful that L en doesn't turn..........
I have to say I used to dislike the themed nights ( I still dislike the Hallowe'en Special - but only because I think they have done the idea to death - no pun intended) but I find I like the film/musical/round the world nights because we often hear some of the best tracks in the series. The only thing is that the performance aspect is sometimes a bit overplayed at the expense of technique and I still think it would be a good idea to follow a themed week with a week which focussed on technique with the couples having to execute certain moves in their dances..........you know something like that..........

Re: Which Dance This Week?
^ In line with the above: Time for a rant, I'm afraid.: As the dreaded time draws near ( well Asda and co already have Christmas crackers so it must be time for Halloween), I willingly admit that Halloween makes me cringe. I put up with young kids trick or treating outside the front door at home on the night because that's what young kids do, but seeing a bunch of adults with flour-bag faces and blackened teeth running around going "Whoo-hoo" or leaping out of cardboard prop coffins is just too much. Apart from the fact (as mauveangel notes) that it's been done to death, it was always about as funny as a fall of soot back when B rucie was a lad. Will I ever be able to forget Chris Parker galloping around the studio draped in a tablecloth and looking like Count Dracula trying to get back in his vault before dawn broke?, or Nancy del whatsit trying to prove that death is sexy as she undressed her way out of a polystyrene sarcophogus in two grands worth of satin frock and draped in half of Hatton Garden's finest?)
In the great drive for modernity, will we see a "bake-off" theme night, ( Are there too many cooks spoiling broths already behind the scenes?) The thought of a jive to "If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a lingerie"....aaaaghhh) mock dragons popping out of their dens or "Match of the night?" with all the female pros dressed as Wayne Rooneys' or Harry Kane's (heaven forbid). At least the head vampire, Luis Suarez has gone off to the Spanish Transylvania so we won't have to suffer him. Could we maybe somewhere in it remember (again supporting mauveangel) that it's supposed to be a dance show primarily and not an hour on Blackpool's ghost train? I am not against era themes highlighting the various assasinations of the fair name of dance, disco, funky chicken and all that stuff (no twist, pleeeeeeze) and I love nights of the forties and American boogie, Jive, Jitterbug etc and the great golden age of ballroom and high society. Oh, and lover of past times as I am, surely the show budgetwill stretch to a few new props besides park benches, gas lamps and mobile doors, umbrellas and swings? It's a poor reflection on the modern music situation when the ever wonderfull George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin songbooks are still the best music around. That said, long may it stay and mabe a time will come when The powers that be remember the Tango is a dance form from Argentina's bordellos, and a paso doble is part of a bullfight and not all Rhiannas yestedays.
Okay, that'll do for now...... Night all.

Re: Which Dance This Week?
I remember the Pro dancers doing a Samba to 'Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel'. Wouldn't have thought it was a Salsa rhythm?
I like 'Unchained Melody' but would have thought it was too slow for an American Smooth?
I think Georgia & Giovanni have been shrewd in getting the Rhumba out of the way early and having the chance to hide it on a theme night dancing to a new James Bond tune.
Should be an entertaining show.

Unchained Melody quick six-quavers-per-bar melody would be a VW, it would be the right tempo for that. Since this is a compound duple beat, it can be a SLOW 4/4 foxtrot. But I hazard to guess it would be a VW-inspired American Smooth...

Gleb - not my type but love the 'humanoid' analogy.
VW American Smooth - spot on CD - as revealed on ITT tonight - could be stunning - wonder how much actually VW will be in it? Interesting anyway.
Vorsprung Durch Technik Mr T!
'Heaven must be missing an Angel' - Love it - a bit of a 'hustle' I associate it with Tavares - not Charlies Angels.
Lastly - for some reason when I think of Kellie and K evin the word 'kooky' keeps coming in to my head - I've no idea why - Kooky Tango, Kooky cha cha and now it looks like a kooky charleston.................no offence meant!

Funnily enough I like the Kevin chap quite a lot. He has an open, pose-free personality that makes a change from the designer beard macho types, yet his dance is every bit as good as theirs. Granted he sometimes hovers around the every mother's favourite son who never loses his dinner money and always has the shiniest shoes in class, but the plusses outweigh the minusses. All in all a positive addition to the male pro ranks.

Yes - I like him too Mr T - I thought F rankie was the perfect partner for him last year - I hope I enjoy the Star Wars charleston because I love the music - but would like to see them do something a bit more classic and smooth after this week - another ballroom dance.

Re: Which Dance This Week?
No doubt the band will excel in adapting some of the tunes accordingly. All respect for what they managed to achieve for An ton's 'Telephone' tune last weekend
I missed ITT tonight. Hopefully I've recorded it. I'd forgotten the American Smooth can be a variation of several of the other dances. I was thinking it would be the usual Quickstep or Foxtrot AS.

Not sure about Dr Beat for a Salsa. Seems more like a Samba rhythm to me.
