I don't know where I should be putting this post in so I started a new thread. Any suggestions as to where I could put this I would copy and paste there and let this thread 'die'.

So far, from the official BBC SCD channel on Youtube, (today, as of 19th Nov 2014, around 2pm), we have the following view counts:

Week 5

1. Pixie's Samba - 87,134
2. Mark's Samba - 40,521
3. Frankie's Foxtrot - 32,938
4. Caroline's Paso Doble - 28,507
5. Jake's Quickstep - 23,204
6. Scott's Charleston - 20,543
7. Thom's Cha-cha - 20,482 (bottom two, voted off)
8. Judy's Charleston - 14,703
9. Steve's Waltz - 12,721
10. Sunetra's Viennese Waltz - 8,755
11. Alison's Tango - 8,447
12. Simon's Viennese Waltz - 7,203 (bottom two with Thom)

Oftentimes, I noticed after the couple is voted off, their youtube viewership went up significantly.

Week 6's figures to follow...

Week 6, Halloween

1. Frankie's Tango - 94,981
2. Mark's Jive - 41,704
3. Pixie's Tango - 31,762
4. Caroline's Samba - 29,428
5. Scott's Foxtrot - 25,778 (bottom two, voted off)
6. Steve's Charleston - 19,613
7. Jake's Paso Doble - 19,314
8. Judy's American Smooth - 18,445
9. Alison's American Smooth - 16,424 (bottom two)
10. Simon's Paso Doble - 12,051
11. Sunetra's Jive - 10,902

We can see here that Sunetra's views for weeks 5 and 6 had always been low. So we may conclude she's not generated much interest from the viewing public compared to, say, Mark.

Also, Simon is, among the male celebs, the least popular thus far (esp. compared to those male celebs remaining, namely Jake, Steve and Mark).

Week 7 figures to follow...

Week 7

1. Frankie's Samba - 30,307
2. Pixie's Foxtrot - 30,206
3. Steve's Paso Doble - 17,097
4. Alison's Charleston - 14,162 (bottom two, voted off)
5. Mark's Waltz - 9,126
6. Jake's Rumba - 8,761
7. Caroline's Waltz - 8,376 (bottom two)
8. Simon's Quickstep - 7,419
9. Judy's Paso Doble - 7,405
10. Sunetra's Foxtrot - 6,154

See, Sunetra's viewing count from week 5 till 7, has always been among the lowest, no matter how she scored in the main show. Among the male celebs, Simon is once again the least 'popular' in the context of the view counts.

Week 8 Blackpool figures to follow...

Week 8, Blackpool

1. Simon's Argentine Tango - 50,991
2. Pixie's Paso Doble - 32,754
3. Caroline's Jive - 23,292
4. Jake's American Smooth - 21,634
5. Mark's Charleston - 19,306
6. Frankie's Quickstep - 16,824
7. Judy's Viennese Waltz - 11,472 (bottom two, voted off)
8. Steve's American Smooth - 8,207
9. Sunetra's Samba - 7,173 (bottom two)

We can see here that once you top the leaderboard, usually your youtube viewing count shoots up significantly even if previously your popularity (viewing counts) had been low. Simon's is the case in point. Will he retain his number and stay on top will very much depend if he keeps up the good work and produce nothing but only excellent quality of dance and garners the top or near top of the leaderboard from the judges.

As we see again, Sunetra is the least popular again. This is a very clear trend, and I feel that unless she gets to the top three of the leaderboard position (and no ties), she'll be at the bottom two this week.

I suspect if Steve has a bad week (say, doing a latin dance), then he'll be there too and the judges will vote off the worse dancer of that week...

Pixie seems the most popular of the female celebs from week 5 till week 8. Wonder if this trend will continue?

Week 4 (Just for comparison sake, and since I have plenty of time today)

1. Pixie's Rumba - 75,360
2. Jake's Jive - 73,264
3. Frankie's Cha-cha - 55,227
4. Caroline's Quickstep - 47,327
5. Alison's Samba - 33,785
6. Steve's Salsa - 23,453
7. Judy's Tango - 19,490
8. Simon's Quickstep - 18,285
9. Mark's Quickstep - 17,517 (bottom two)
10. Scott's American Smooth - 14,529
11. Thom's Foxtrot - 14,272
12. Sunetra's Salsa - 12,827
13. Tim's Paso Doble - 8,519 (bottom two, voted off)

Again, Pixie always tops the female celeb in terms of Youtube view count popularity.

Ooh great stats CD! Interesting Simon top after Blackpool! Wonder if its because Sunetra is likeable but also forgetable? Reason why she pulls fewer votes?

Interesting indeed! I suppose YouTube views can offer a rough guide to individual popularity. But I'd be surprised if Pixie is consistently topping the public vote as she is YT views. And Week 7's YT views overestimate Alison and Caroline's popularity - as they both ended up in the bottom two.

Great thread CD - and I agree with Hatlady - it is great to see some statistics having lost Kate who did so many whizzy things for us on that score.

This could be a great barometer - but I wonder how many of the hits are curiosity rather than a 'fan base' thing - the music and the style/feel of the dance could also be another reason to watch. I'm not surprised that Pixie is at the top - she is so watchable and has done some of the most memorable routines of the series so far - not necessarily the winner though.

Interesting to plot Simon's progress - seems to be consistent with his somewhat inconsistency in the contest so far, but that seems to be changing.

Surprised that Sunetra has been consistently low in the ratings as this week was the first time she had appeared in the DO. I totally agree about Sunetra waning and Steve too - sunetra might get another week out of it if she gives a great ballroom performance this week.

Once the views goes above 300, even if you watch multiple times, youtube will only count it as one from the same IP address...

Good topic CD, I recall that someone used to post re the Facebook   'likes' too. I really miss Kate and all her insights into the n.umbers. If you're lurking somewhere out there Kate...come back!!
How do you know all this re YouTube likes CD? scratch  I am in awe of your expertise !
Funny, even though I sit down attached to my iPad at home, I rarely watch the dances again on YouTube ..I guess I would (and have) just re watch on the telly as it's always recorded even if I'm watching it live.
I think that aside from all the pfuff re him and 0la, Steve has become the invisible man. We hardly discuss him, I don't think he's a great dancer and I rather hope he slips off quietly on Saturday / Sunday. for me, I think Sunetra might be good for another week because she's got ballroom albeit with hardly any practice time. I don't really care which order they go in, but out of preference I would choose Steve to go first.

I would choose Steve to go before Sunetra as well. Steve seemed not to like his SCD experience any more after that horrible scandal created by the Daily Mail...

alls - I make a point of looking at and comparing Facebook 'likes' each week. I think it's quite useful because it shows the instant response the audience has to the performances. Although again, can't always generalise from that data as I recall Alison's Charleston came 1st or 2nd on Facebook the week she left.

Maybe we can add the FB info here as well from now on? Would that okay CD? Smile

Must admit, I've missed the stats as well!

If your head's in the oven and your feet are in the fridge then on average you'll be ok. That's all my stats knowledge. I think I gave up after reading an article that tried to promote a positive correlation between the size of the big toe and cortical development. Puh -leeeeeeease! That's a fair reflection on the night I would say. I've just scrolled back and there does seem to be a lot of likes for Pixie. I wonder what her fan base is? I just can't connect with her at all. I would rather see Caroline than her, but in fairness I've only just begun to be interested in her as I loved the routine last night.
I think Jakey's chances have been thwarted by blimmin Zorba though....
