Re: SCD 2017 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
Lot I like this week. Looks like they've gone for the 'silver vote' to cheer us up
I've got that Rodrigo y Gabriela album. It's one of my favourites.
I'm not sure why the original Elvis track couldn't have been used (why change perfection), but at least they've not tried to put Cher's disco version for Gemma's foxtrot (phew). On ITT they played the wrong one (I hope)

Re: SCD 2017 which music and dance choices this week
Gosh is it week 5 already.......... I like quite a few of this weeks choices too - I would say that there are a fair few 'crowd pleasers' in there this week, so feel a bit sorry for the few who haven't got one of these. Not more Ed Sheeran on SCD please..........
Paso doble to Rodrigo y Gabriela - yes give me some of that please!!! and I just knew as soon as I saw the track that Mr T will love this one
Also second Mr T's view about 'Love is in the Air' - one of my favourites - whilst not a track that you would necessarily associate with a Samba it has a really strong bounce beat which is great for this dance, and I much prefer it to the other Samba track for this week.
Davood and Nadiya's track - cheese I'm afraid - wonder if it will be enough to secure them a 'bounce' vote this week? She did say on ITT that she didn't want it to be about storytelling this week but about him proving that he can do good jive.
Brian and Amy - who doesn't like a bit of Tom Jones? Great track but they'll have to play with the tempo surely? It's a bit slow/wrong for a jive otherwise - I'm thinking they will probably be doing a 'party' dance.
I was very puzzled on ITT when they played Cher and said that Gemma and Alijaz would be dancing a Foxtrot?? I agree with you B4P I think they made a mistake - the other version here makes much more sense.
Mollie will be safely back in ballroom hold this week and has one of the great crowd pleasers of the night with her track - as have Janette and Aston - both suitable for their dances so should go down well.
Simon and Karen - great track for a Charleston and she'll obviously be going for a highly comedic routine - not sure whether they will sneak through again or not.
Jonnie and Oti - not my favourite Stevie Wonder track but will be interesting to see what they come up with this week.

Re: SCD 2017 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
Wow- a decent week for music!
Obviously the producers were thinking of Mr T when they sorted the paso music and it could steal the show as it's the only paso - Let's hope it's a good week for Joe
I can't say that I dislike any of the music this week and I positively love quite a lot of it- Love is in the Air always makes it onto my feel good playlist.
I think that Simon and Brian could be horribly exposed if they don't nail it as could Susan - although she silenced the critics last week I fear for her out of hold.
Looking forward to Saturday now- hope it lives up to our expectations!

Oh no....I love the music too but I don't want to be a silver voter!!! I may have had a significant birthday this year but I am not going down that route. My youngest did take evil pleasure when he told me I could now qualify for that over 50s plan that Parky sells!!

When the song first came out, the fair was in town in the village where I lived then. It was a lovely summer's night and this song was booming out across the fields. If you didn't want to dance you had to have made your will....

Re: SCD 2017 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
Interesting.....
My only worry on that list is the (execrable) Ed Sheeran number - really doesn't say Samba to me. Still, at least it is Alex who has it and she is so competent that I reckon that she will just do the samba choreography to a more approriate tune running in her head.
I LOVE the Fit as a Fiddle tune. SO disappointed it has been given to Karen and Simon - it is going to destroy it for me forever.
(PS - am I missing something with Mr Sheeran? He seems so very smug when I see him on the likes of Graham Norton, even though he is supposed to come across as such a nice, down to earth bloke - I never see it. And though a prolific songwriter and with definite talent, his songs are now beginning to run to a formula. Also, falsetto voice thing - yuk.)

Re: SCD 2017 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
I will be working on Tuesday evening when the Halloween music and dances are announced.
I can put them on early (around 7.30am) on Wednesday morning, or would anyone else like to put them on the thread on Tuesday night?

Re: SCD 2017 which music and dance choices this week
mmmm........not impressed really but I suppose as it is a theme week we'll have to wait and see. No doubt the dances and the tempos of the various tracks will be pummelled and squeezed into the Hallowe'en 'concepts' like someone trying to squeeze into a too small corset.................
Because they have done this theme 'to death' (no pun intended!) and there are only a certain number of songs/tracks that naturally lend themselves to the Hallowe'en theme I think it presents them with more and more of a problem each year, so we get some very 'loose' and surreal stuff on this week and it is just a giant fancy dress party really................. (but I suppose that is actually Hallowe'en for many people so perhaps not so bad?)
For this reason I'm not surprised to see some 'recycled' tracks coming up which I'm ok about as at least 'Bewitched' is something directly relevant to the theme!! I think A nton has struck lucky with this one (if not the best) track of the night but for me this will always be Jason and K ristina's track - it was the point in the series when he really 'took off' and it has gone down for me as being an SCD 'classic' dance.
As for 'Delilah' didn't some one do this really recently as a VW?? (can't remember?)
I always disliked the 'Frankie' track and can't envisage it as a Charleston really - I was hoping for a classic ballroom for Debbie as we haven't seen much of this from her - she will have quite a few of the ballroom dances to do in the second half of the contest if she gets through - possible good tactics from Gio there. Not sure how she will handle the Charleston but she seems quite good at the character stuff - (paso, themed quickstep etc) and Gio will be able to chuck her about quite a bit in this I think!!!
Feel that Davood could be quite exposed in a rumba - on ITT last night Queen Nathalie mentioned the word 'finesse' in connection with him and I must admit this is what I have thought all along - if you add in the challenge for all male celebs with this dance then it will be interesting, but I'm sure it won't be very technical and I bet YASB will be draping herself all over him!!!
Lastly - 'Killer Queen' is one of my all time favourite songs but I would never think of it in connection with a Foxtrot - however, I wait to see it with interest....................... Could actually be quite good................

Re: SCD 2017 Which Dance & Music Choices This Week?
Oh lord.... Hallowe'en Week
Weirdly this year's tunes are very, very tenuously (if at all) linked to Hallowe'en - where are the witches, ghosts and goblins? If we HAVE to have a themed week, and Hallowe'en at that (which is my second least favourite night of the year, with Nov 5th being my very least favourite - shoot me now... ) then they at least should be properly themed.
Surely they could have found a dance for Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (Ella Fitzgeral version, obvs)? Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is Dead? There's a Ghost in My House (yes, they could have, it's been done before, but they seem to be re-cycling now).
And I SO want to see a Cha Cha to Cherry Pink - preferably by Ruth and Housewives choice, suitably attired :-)

Re: SCD 2017 which music and dance choices this week
I was just thinking this morning that Shakespeare's Sister would make a very ethereal rumba for Hallowe'en!
'Fire' is a really great choice for a paso Mr T -
I just realized that Gemma and Alijaz will be dancing to the Buzzcocks - again, this song is a great favourite of mine and guaranteed to get me turning up the volume, but can't quite see the connection to Hallowe'en!!!!!
