Highs:

Helen and Aljaz you were a dream.

Katie and A.nton you weren't perfect but you captivated me.

Anita escaping the dance-off.

Tess' Results Show dress.

Lows:

I don't "get" Jay.

Gleb's Contemporumbawank.

Janette's cupcake nonsense was like something from the Clifton School of Choreography.

Tess' Results Show hair.

Highs
Helen has certainly upped her game this week. Very enjoyable
Il Divo - one of my favourite songs
Natalie and Gleb dancing to Il Divo. She's such an elegant dancer
Giovanni's Paso choreography & Georgia's hair
Aliona's Tango choreography
The Band & Singers

Lows
Aliona's washed out platinum blonde hair. Please let her have her fiery red locks back again.
Scoreboard manipulation in the Quick-wreck-athon
Anita's Rhumba and her comment 'you have to take risks' (Gleb - stupid for putting illegal lifts in at this stage)

Two other observations
Jay's Tango face caught on 'The Love God that is Leonard The Lion Goodman's Lens' was his usual blank one which made me laugh
Kevin's jeans were obviously a size larger than usual

Gues we're the old brigade Sax in that view. Contemporary dance/street dance/burn-the-floor stuff are the things of today, Everything is designed to boost viewing rating and attract a wider audience. The pros have to be au-fait with whatever is current and in truth they are very good at what they do. We've had a fantastic era of music and dance, but parts of it hold little appeal for me. Afraid I'm Strictly Ballroom. Wink

Highs
Not very many I'm afraid:
The two pro dances - really enjoyed the lion king
High standard of dance in spite of the music in some cases
Katie and a nton staying in
Equal standards which means - as we saw tonight that it really is not in the bag yet!

Lows
Choice of music for musicals night!!!!! Was someone on the production team being self indulgent!
Forcing the dances to fit some of the tracks thus losing the character of the dance and disadvantaging the celebs as was roundly seen in the dance off
Extras
More slapstick humour involving c laud - the woman is a natural wit - she doesn't need this
The whole downbeat feel of the show - more of a variety of rhythms and music needed

Sorry if this sounds negative - ideally enjoyed 'over the rainbow' - the dance and the song- I'm looking forward to 2 dances each and hopefully no teapots next week!!!

Sorry - I'm having a second bite at the highs and lows.

Highs

A nton and Katie staying in.
Georgia and Giovanni staying in.
The Lion King/Pro dance. Really wonderful performances from the two Lion King leads. Makes me want to go and see it again.

Lows

The fact that Georgia and Helen were both in the dance off.
Helen and Aljaz going out - too early.
Anita didn't go out. She was due to go.

I so agree mauveangel. A nton was a delight as ever and Joanne made an excellent partner for him.  I'd like to see them do more ballroom together.  I don't know much about Josh Groban, but I did like his "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Too often singers over-interpret this song. Sometimes you can't even recognise the melody. Here he added a little interpretation, but in no way did he destroy the form, melody or beauty of the song. His singing and the dancing was a great combination - one of the best we've seen on Strictly in my opinion.

I don't normally post on this thread but I noticed a few things.

HIGHS

The very good musical choices this week.
Kellie's American Smooth.
Georgia's fighting spirit and cheery disposition.
An.ton's stoicism and enthusiasm.

LOWS

C.raig's continual need to grossly undermark dancers he clearly wants knocked out. Katie's Charleston was not brilliant but no way did it merit 4.
The gross overmarking of Jay's Charleston that clearly had a drop in it yet still earned 37. Smacks of favouritism.
A number of the dances taking a little too long after the music started to get the dance going.

Great show tonight.

I think I'm becoming an old cynic. I so wanted to enjoy tonight, yet strangely didn't.

Highs.

Not many but Kellie and Kevin's final dance was terrific. What ballroom dance is all about.

Lows.

Totally agree about the judges confab re the dancers. Seemed a pre-determined judgement and shouldn't happen. At worst it gives them an idea what the competition thinks which, in a marking scenario is just wrong.
Tess's inane ranting about male skin, indeed her innane ranting about almost everything. Hope they change presenters for next year.
Gleb's showboating of himself makes Gavin Henshaw look shy by comparison..
Unfair marking etc......I could go on.....

Katie and Housewives choice in the final. Babino Caro and Pucini won the day. Jay, Georgia and Kellie safely there to make a good night of it.
Llambada from the pros to open the show. cheers

Lows.

Touch of the Elizabeth Bennet prejudice I'm afraid. I just can't stand that Kylie woman. Sorry. affraid

Katie and A'nton staying in for the final

Lows
Crai.g's 4 for Katie and A'nton's Charleston
Anita's Salsa

That's about it this week. Although there were things that annoyed me a little very few things annoyed me a lot and I'm too pleased about A'nton getting to the final to be upset by many other things.

HIghs
K atie and A nton getting to the Final
Georgia managing to get through it all and get through to the Final despite being ill
Really enjoyed the latin pro n umber with the moving walls!! Suspect it actually looked better on TV than in the studio - really interesting routine
Kevin and Kellies American Smooth

Lows
That Salsa and those shoes!
The judges manipulation and marks in general not matching the comments received
That 4' given by CRH
More slapstick humour involving C laud - really not liking the girls as much this year - Really don't like Tess's exchanges and attitude at the judges table.

Well I'd be quite happy to lose Tess - Zoe would be a more than adequate replacement, but please please please, you can't lose Claudia - she's fabulous. She delivers those horrendous BBC puns wonderfully - absolutely straight faced - in a way Brucie could never do. And I don't mind her slapstick. It just endears her more to me that she's willing to not take herself too seriously.

Snap!. Not fair to have a go at her (which I have been known to do Embarassed ) for not being a Brucie (he had more personality in his little finger than Tess has in her whole amazonian length) but she just isn't the person for the job. I like Claudia muchly, but Zoe is way too gushy for me. She'd be fine in the meet and greet area up the steps. A n'ton and Claudia would make a great team to run the show. If a woman took the lead role, Karen Hardy would be fine for it. Tess, no, sorry. Nothing personal and it's only an opinion anyway.

I'm not sure if a three way presenter would work on SCD. I like C.laudia for the meet and greet, settle my nerves and make us laugh. Tess I've slowly lost faith with she does pipe up a little too much when the judges deliver their reviews. A.non for me would make an ideal 5th judge. I'd like to see a male seasoned presenter or if I had my way Ant & Dec with our C.laude Laughing

Ant and Dec???????? Evil or Very Mad I think Bungle and Zippy would do a better job than them.
