Re: You are musical director for one week......
Years back there was an annual fairground across a couple of fields from where I lived then. One lovely summer's night I was pottering around outside when the fairground music system suddenly belted out quite loudly, John Paul Young's " Love is in the air". Sounded so good that it's stayed with me all these years. Great ending to the film Strictly Ballroom too, very fitting...

I love this - it is full of energy and brings back lots of memories.
I think it would fit with a salsa too.

Re: You are musical director for one week
Tonight I got really up tight thinking about some of the tracks on SCD:
Firstly - 'She' - by Charles Aznavour - I know that J eremy said he was a big Elvis Costello fan but why say it is by Elvis Costello? Yes he did a cover version for a film - but the band tonight created their own cover version - it is not Elvis Costello's song to own - it is Charles Aznavour every time.
Secondly - 'One way or another' - Sure 'One Direction' did a cover version but tonight the band reprised the orignal 'Blondie' version with a female singer.
Can SCD stop playing about with the credits for tracks - the SCD band create their own cover version every time they play something, so there is no reason not to say who did the original versions of songs - if many cover versions have been done of a particular song, then people will recognise whatever version they are used to.

Great suggestion B4. I've always loved this song - so moody and haunting. I think it would take a skillful couple to pull off a Tango to it because as you say it would have a slightly different, softer feel. But I'd love to see it done.
Thumbs up for Modern Romance as well! We're like a couple of 80s throwbacks...B.rendan would approve

Cat Stevens. What a genius.

Alexander Armstrong who host's the quiz show 'Pointless' has his debut album out. Heard his version of this a few days ago and thought it sounded like a Foxtrot.

Interesting choice. Quite a dark, macabre feel but beautiful lyrics and beguiling melody. The pros could do wonders with it.
I saw Cat Stevens interviewed on The One Show a few months ago - fascinating guy.

Story goes that his then girlfriend Patti D'Arbanville went off to America to do her own thing. He wrote this, and when she heard it she cried and knew it was over for them. Always been a favourite and I must have played it a hundred times and know the lyrics well. Elton John made a version.
