Green green grass for teeth cleaning made me laugh, imagining him smiling into a mirror with greenery in his teeth .diamondsandpearls wrote:Oh no! I've just spent the last half hour wandering around Youtube in Footloose land! (after clicking on the link in B4p's post...) You know, one thing just led to another
Sorry about that diamonds
Had never heard the OneRepublic song but I think it will work very well for a Tango.
I think the Pros did a show tango to this a while back. It rings a bell. I love that video. Got everything in it - kitchen sink, dressage horses...
The diamonds song (my theme tune, obvs ) - great song, great version, but not saying Charleston to me.
I agree. I can't understand why its just not called the old 'Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend'
What's New Pussycat and Delilah were the favourite (Green Green Grass of home was saved for entertaining us whilst he cleaned his teeth..

Oh no diamonds! Does that mean the wedding's off?
On second listening, I think you're probably right about the VW song
And I'm totally with you on Paulo Nuttini - one of those singers who's 'fashionable' to listen to but does nothing for me whatsoever.

I like some of Paolo Nutini's songs (Scream is, indeed a scream). I can imagine them working a 3/4 beat to that song, but what a song title for Sunetra!

Hahaha! He has always prided himself on their gleaming whiteness! He just used to sort of gargle the tune whilst all foamed up with toothpaste and brushing up and down. He had a few teeth-cleaning songs in his repertoire (Danny Boy was another favourite) - sort of Vic Reeves Club Style singing but with added minty freshness....

Full agreement there D&P. Of all the great samba tunes they could pick they go for a Benidorm knees-up come Spanish hokey-cokey tune that just doesn't gell. Have they never heard of Edmundo Ross?

Or that other holiday classic - Maya singing 'What's she gonna look like with a chimney on her?' or 'Agadoo' with their 'push pineapple' routine

Karen's tweeted about loving the Salsa and wants Mark to 'shake it like a polaroid'. Has he done the Salsa yet? I get a bit confused over who's done what.

Mark has done a Samba.
But I hope Karen doesn't go mad with that Salsa in trying to make Mark look like an idiot that he's already is with his Superman Paso.

Salsa is one of those dances where no role playing is needed: No Paso or Tango drama, no rumba romance and no ballroom "is me head at the right angle?". It's all about enjoying the xxxx out of dancing to the music and being yourself. Hope Mark understands that or that Karen makes him.

Re: Which Dance This Week?
I'd say Caroline and Pixie have the best music.
"Surfin’ USA" is TERRIBLE.
Sunetra's Rhumba music is a bit boring and it's one of those songs that sounds out-of-tune even when it's sung in tune if you know what I mean?!
Why two American songs when there are so many countries to choose from?

I think its the huge connections with the American team in DWTS. I noticed at the beginning that we had a recycle of at least one of their tunes 1-2 weeks after they'd been used in the USSid wrote:Why two American songs when there are so many countries to choose from?

Re: Which Dance This Week?
I think the two Waltz tunes are the most suitable for their dance. I loved Anthony Quinn in Zorba, which is still one of my favourite films, (and even visited all the places that were used for filming when on Crete years ago) but with the best will in the world I can't see an A Tango to that tune.
Some of the tunes look like they've been picked straight out of the Madhatter's teapot

No nor me. Although sometimes the most unlikeliest songs end up working brilliantly - if you think back to Frankie & Kevin's Tango, for instance. We just couldn't see how the music would fit (and some still weren't completely convinced afterwards, but most were surprised to find they enjoyed it). Just not sure Jake's a good enough dancer to pull something like this off.
