Re: SCD 2019 Weekly Dance & Music Choices
Yet more silly covers of classic music tracks- why?
For me, there's only one Libertango
https://youtu.be/k_pLL278zoM
Frank Sinatra & Ella Fitzgerald's 'Tramp' would make a great duet between the SCD singers Andrea & Tommy
https://youtu.be/xafBWOxqssg
Seven Nation Army - how many Paso's have we seen to that one? Great track though
On a high note, I love Gymnopedie. It's so relaxing and tranquil. Beautiful music

Sweet Caroline was the Karaoke favourite of several Bolton Wanderers (my team) and a big favourite with the crowd when Dave Wheater was captain. I'll have it for that.
Classical music inspired girl group "Bond" have been long time favourites of mine, I still have their "Shine" album and a couple of others. I don't go for "poser" girl groups, but these ladies are musicians. They also did Led Zapelin's "Kahsmir" which is well worth a listen. Here, I offer "Fuego" (Fire) for your perusal. Love it....

Re: SCD 2019 Weekly Dance & Music Choices
I like that Bond track Tango. I agree they're talented musicians, but I prefer the sound of more richer, rounder tones for Libertango. I like to hear the music build and the variety of all the different layers. Much as I like Bond, I find their Libertango a bit one dimensional. To me, a version where mostly strings are used, is the audible equivalent of a thin clear soup compared to a chunky minestrone.
On the other hand, I'm a big Neil Diamond fan, and think of him as a modern day minstrel. I'm sad to hear he's retired due to increasing Parkinsons. I love how he adds strings to many of his ballads like 'Longfellow's serenade' and 'Lady Magdeline'. The orchestral arrangements on 'Coldwater morning' and 'Morningside' are stunning, and his song writing can be quite poignant, for example in 'I am, I said' when he's talking about breaking into the big time - 'New York City born and raised but nowadays, I'm lost between two shores. LA's fine but it ain't home, New York's home, but it ain't mine no more'. Reminds me a bit of Albert Hammond's 'Never rains in Southern California' when Albert moved from Gibraltar to America to seek his fortune. Saying that, I'm not really visualising an American Smooth to 'Sweet Caroline' but I live in hope.
I feel sorry for Chris with that song for a Rumba. It's hard enough trying to count out the rhythm to any rumba song, but that one doesn't really have a regular rhythm or any dark and light shade either. It just sounds a bit down and depressing, so I guess it's a 'he's leaving me - can I get him to stay' type rumba. Either way he's toast and he knows it!

Music wise (not sure what they'll do with them yet) Kelvin and Oti have hooked the big fish. Just Love Celia Cruz after seeing The Buena Vista Social Club live in Manchester a few years ago. Just hope they don't dress Kel in any Carmen Miranda outfits.

Re SCD 2019 Weekly Music and Dance Choices
I wish they wouldn't release the couples choice dances - it used to be a nice surprise on the night.
I like the look of all of them actually. I was right about Emma and A nton's choice - I now realize why they didn't get that one as Judges pick.
