Blimey Hatlady, I'm impressed that you made not one but two jackets. I can't sew at all, but imagine a jacket is one of trickiest things to make.

Oh jingle, an easy pattern, no fastenings, no linings. Honestly, nothing very special, I am not a great sewer. The fun part was doing the trims. I keep all the bits I've bought for shows over the years. I felt very economical finding a place to use them,

hatlady28 wrote:Shhhhh, ballet pumps at the ready for purposes of smacking down.......passed my first dancing exam today. When I started, because I've been ill, I just did waltz, foxtrot and rumba. (not really attracted to the wild Latin He is. And we obey him.) Then they wanted me to do the first level exam.....and I needed 3 more dances. Cramming, learnt: tango, Argentine tango and Paso Doble very quickly. The ones I crammed were definitely weaker, but I made points on style and following. It was a very solid pass. Phew!
Havent logged on here for ages so belated congrats hatlady

Re: Here's my news ....
Thanks Chris82! I started really working on Argentine Tango......very difficult following. With straight ballroom following has few cues, but AT, oh my! The hand on your back, keeping your chest parallel (some of the leading comes from the change in the chest direction), then the cues for the kicks which are sometimes in two parts. You have to wait for the second part before moving....Did a couple of lessons with my eyes closed so I could focus. This is the ultimate freeform dance. It makes me realise how very different it is to do a prepared routine.

Following in the AT sounds rather complicated to say the least, I think I will give it a miss

Re: Here's my news ....
I've been trying to develop a new career since the design end of things went pear shaped. So now managing in a call centre. Also now have second child - a boy calle Dylan.
Glad to report that Mrs Redcurrant is well and we will be watching tonight with our (almost) 4 yr old daughter who loves SCD and the Ramones.
Just like dad.
Current fave is DVO - even with knobhead
Missing Aliona
Quite like a few dancers but not Zoe's dad and think Erin's sister has spent some more money.

I have warmed to KH over the years. I dont think DVO will remain a favourite.
Queen Vic was a Pre show fav for me but she needs to drop her plank of wood impression if she is to progress.

Re: Here's my news ....
Has anyone mentioned the dance off yet? Just a thought - it did result in some fabulous threads a number of years ago.
For me? I still think it is wrong - tied vote should mean the decision is based on public standings not grumpy old The Love God that is Leonard The Lion Goodman.
I mean if the judges are tied after the DO it should be decided based on the existing public vote

I'm fine. A tad sloshed but it is Saturday, Strictly's been on, I've been suitably entertained and if that's not defence enough, I'm one hour ahead of the rest of you...
Good to see you're back Red, hope all is well.
As for the dance-off:- I think they'd worked out that the Sunday show was going nowhere and needed to have some more tension put back into it. Personally, I'm undecided - it's a bit of a cheat but the bottom two are usual the right two and I quite like the surprise of not knowing beforehand which one's getting the push. There's an added advantage in that if I don't agree with the decision, I can always blame The Love God that is Leonard The Lion Goodman.

Hello Tomps & Davied!! Yes there is a thread re the dance off!!!I like the Dance off however if its deadlocked I agree the public should have the deciding decision. After all they (I) pay to vote.
I use twitter yes haven't followed any of the couples yet.O.la onlist from team cola etc.
The forum has been alive all year!! We have a lovely book club & love add more people too!!!!!
I hate the pretence of "live" Sunday show a waste of time & an insult to viewers.I had to go out last night so watching SCD in a steamy session this am!! Steamy being a mammouth ironing session

Congratulations to Red, Mrs Red and the Nanas! All this talk of babies is making me broody...
I got married this year (29th February - 4 years to the day after we got engaged).
And my big girl (nearly 4) goes to school now - watched her in her first school assembly last Wednesday - very proud mum.
Hope everyone is happy and well
